Procurement Category Specialist (PCS)

Do you have experience  from a consulting- or category/analyst role? Orica Norway AS is seeking an ambitious person with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to strengthen their Sourcing team. 

As a member of our EME Sourcing team, you will play a critical role in enabling better sourcing covering all Orica operations in the region. We envision our Procurement Category Specialist (PCS) to be an excellent team player and strong relationship builder throughout all levels of our organization (as well as external stakeholders), whilst maintaining an aggressive execution on costs, budgets, analysis, timelines and savings. You will be working across all aspects of Procurement, including Global and Regional Category Management, Operations Management and Team Development (e.g. analytical, strategy development). The role is expected to demonstrate real procurement leadership across multiple countries. Travel will be required from time to time.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of cost advantage to Orica that is superior to our competitors through establishing sourcing strategies that align to Orica’s long-term strategies
  • Analyze spend, costs & supplier financials to develop robust strategies and present results to EME Procurement team
  • Actively participate in developing category strategies and managing existing supply contracts
  • Responsible for the development of sourcing strategies for key EME categories, with particular focus on analysis of total costs
  • Strategic sourcing activities
  • Lead cross-company teams to strategically develop long-term supplier partnerships
  • Participation in constructing models to identify key cost drivers of the business
  • Monitor, evaluate and work with problem suppliers to improve performance
  • Collaborate with the global category teams and build relationships with other key internal stakeholders
  • Responsible for analyzing market information and internal data in support of business initiatives
  • If required, may take on annual planning and operational responsibilities in emergency situations


Education and Experience

  • Degree qualified
  • Ideally 1-2 years consulting experience
  • Ideally 3-5 years in category/analyst role

  • Ability to self-manage workload, priorities and work
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Norwegian and English
